who?

who are we? who am i? who are you? and why are we the way we are? and, hell, what is the way we are? where does that come from?
i believe that the only reason we are self-conscious is our memory. we remember many things that have happened to us (consciously or subconsciously) and that, the experiences we made, the battles we fought, the hopes we lost, the seemingly continuous memory makes us believe in this illusion of self.
who are we today? are we different from yesterday? is yesterday real or does it solely consist of memories adapted, possibly changed by ourselves?
be who you are, that's what they say, be who you are, be yourself and the world is bound to like you. but what is you, what is yourself?
don't we we pretend all the time?
charon, existentialistic today...
