what about joy?

i don't know whether it's a genuinely german trend or whether we're copying this unknowingly from another nation that is obviously just as stupid as we are... but what about joy?
no, i'm not talking about that cuddly, tickling, nice feeling you get when you (for whatever strange reason) don't fail that test or get to shave that little ugly thing your neighbor keeps calling a dog... i'm talking about the name.
as it seems, everybody who wants to become a star needs to have it - at least everybody that pretends to be female. joy here, joy there, everybody's full of joy. does this parental misstep guarantee the kid's perfect future? it seems as if it does...
but let's think for a moment. what if the kid doesn't want to become a movie or a music star? what if the kid wants to become... a politician? or a lawyer? or the dictator of a little island off the southern american coast?
what would that be like?
"thanks for chosing us, mr. smith. i can guarantee that here at lambert, block and joy you will get the best service you can imagine."
"bow low for our new queen, all hail our new leader - joy"
"mrs. president, thank you for your invitation" - "ah, why that formal, call me joy".
i don't know about you but for my part, the joy in the world seems to be a tiny little bit unfairly balanced.
