rating futures [oct 12 2004, 17:43]

just before i leave for a week (won't tell you where, you'd laugh...), i'll tell you a bit about my most recent acquisition:
futures
one of this year's most anticipated albums - at least from my point of view.
futures is a really nice opener. reminds me a lot of clarity... especially the two voicelines.
just tonight... rocks. more bleed'ish, really good.
work is nice. nothing special, though... reminds me a little of crevice by delaware, a nice album without any highs or lows...
kill nice. sundown and a long car ride. drumming on the steering wheel. very clarity-like.
the world you love also reminds me of clarity. a lot. three or four melodies at the same time... good.
pain first single. rocks. rocks rocks rocks!
drugs or me just watch the fireworks in 6:25. not that dreamy, though.
polaris from what i've read, most people's favorite. nothing special in my opinion.
nothingwrong don't really like that one. great refrain but too... well, too... i don't know...
night drive very weird start *g*. beach. evening. sundown. friends.
23 yes, that title really is 23. no, i didn't make that one up. no! good one.
shame a bonus track. hm... well, it's a bonus track.

well, futures is a lot more like clarity than like bleed. i don't really like their new let's- bend- the- guitar- and- see- how- far- we- can- bend- it- thing. it's still jimmy eat world and this is an album that i liked from the first moment. as that was not the case with bleed american (which i love by now) i don't really know whether that is a good sign...
well, i'll take it with me during my week off (no, i still won't tell you where i'm going, no!) and, after that, i'll try to give you a thunb into some general direction (up, a little less than up, quite up, somewhere near up et al.).
see you
charon
