finally

there are some words flowing again. the huge lady that is sitting in my head and that i can't get out in one piece, has started undressing and throwing some little things out of my ears. so i was able to pick them up and put them down and now i feel that, although she is still in there in her entirety, i managed to get a little of the weight out.
i'll think about the rest when there is time.
i just noticed why i like writing so much. at least i figured out an important part of it.
it's not about relief, it's not about the 'joy of telling a good story' (although that is really important at times).
it's the little common secrets.
for me as someone who is, let's say, only marginally successful with relationships, this concept is rather thrilling. when two people (sometimes it can be some more but generally, two is enough) spend a lot of time with each other and talk a lot during that time, they will share some secrets. not the 'did you steal that toy from your brother?'-kind of secrets.
new secrets.
the kind of secrets that, at a party, immediately give the status of their relationship away.
something, a word or a movement, causes them to look at each other, smile first, and then burst out in laughter.
that means that the two of them know something the outside world is only partially aware of. they share little secrets (like a nickname for their bed or a habit they share after waking up).
and that's what, as an author, you can do as well.
you can tell your readers little secrets and, if they listen closely and if you're clever, you can have them spot these secrets later on.
and at least i as a reader always have to smile when i read something like this.
or when two people talk about they recently read and one only has to throw some keywords into the general direction of the other one and they laugh their asses of while everyone around doesn't really see what's so funny about 'roasted carrots' or something like that.
it's not the only reason but it's one.
