i don't know whether it's in any way normal but i love getting e-mails. almost as much as getting letters. nice ones. no bills.
that's why the first thing i do when i get to my pc (or any pc with an internet-connection at all) is check my e-mails. and then, mostly, there's the depressing moment. well, there are two possibilities, basically:
1.) no single e-mail at all. not one. not a tiny byte that could tell me that an e-mail is on the way but that it lost its way and will try to get to me as fast as it can. nothing. nada. niente. rien. and do you know what's the worst about it: it does not become better however often you press that damn 'get new mails'-button...
2.) dozens, hundreds, bilions of mails. you start your mail-proggie and it tells you that it's downloading stuff. you get excited. who is it from? is it by that girl you sent that mail to, err, that you called yesterday? or by that guy that had told you that you would earn millions of $$$ if you just sent that mail to ten other people and they sent it to... err, wait, you didn't answer that mail! damn! however, who else could it be from? - and that's the point where the download is finished and you notice that the mail was sent by either an anonymous mass-mailer (where the hell did that get your address from???) or by person x in land y who is completely desperate because his son/daughter/dog/favorite cow will die soon and you should help him/her/it.
amazing.
every day.
a hundred times.
can't you simply call me?
