rating high up in the sky [nov 27 2002, 23:22]

i saw it. finally. when i was least expecting to see it. i had been looking for ages but now i saw it.
okay, let's start from the beginning. yesterday evening, i drove over to a friend of mine at about six to play some games of cards. turned out to be quite funny as i understood the game (yes, i did) but kept losing (everyone had like 20 points, i had two)... however, still quite funny.
on our way back i noticed the sky above us. it was freezing cold outside but there were no clouds at all. not a single one except for that little stylish one in front of the moon that does not cover anything but that gives the moon a great look - perhaps you know what i mean.
however, after having brought patrick home, after getting the car into the garage i decided to take our dog out for a little walk. yes, it was almost one o'clock but neither i nor he cared.
and right then it happened. when i left the door and stepped into the shadow of a huge tree, i saw it. i accidentally looked up into the sky and thought 'well, that moon really looks awsome' when something else caught my attention.
as you perhaps know, our planet (well, the planet of most of the readers of this diary, not of all... err...) was flying through a field of cosmic dust called the 'leonids'. however, in that night some friends of mine were desperately looking for some meteors to see (mostly called 'shooting stars') but it was far too cloudy to see any (i know, i tried, too).
but yesterday it just worked. everything worked together. i stood at the right spot in the shadows where the light from the streetlights was not disturbing my view, i looked right into the right spot in the sky and that damn little rock burned in the atmosphere. it was just perfect.
and of course, i wished for something. nothing big, just a small thing. well, i won't tell you now because if i do it will 1) spoil the surprise for you when it comes true and 2) prevent it from coming true anyway ;o)
it's as i always said - one day we'll all become the cosmic dust we are made of. one day...
