a diary
[sep 15 2002, 15:00]
this is my usual little vacation-diary... just for you ;o)
sep 07 - late arrival
though it was really hard, the trip was not as horrible as i had expected it to be. it took almost fifteen hours, started at 5 in the morning and ended at eight with really funny events! the greatest thing about all was our bus-driver from sarajevo (who had been a lawyer before). he took roads that buses were not allowed to use (now we also know why... sharp corners and long buses attract lots of visitors), went through tunnels that were, according to the signs, 3,30m high (with a 3,50m-bus) and always had somewhing nice to say ('oh, this car over there goes real fast')...
hopefully i'll see him in the next days to take a picture!
well, drank a bit now, examined the (horribly soft and deep) beds and... we'll see about 'culture' tomorrow ;o)

sep 08 - your best frient aint alcohol
getting drunk can be fun. being drunk can be a lot less funny ;o) okay, let's start at the beginning: had breakfast, went to a nearby town to get some food, went back, spent the day, started to drink red wine and playing cards at six, stopped at eleven -> died! at least some of my brain-cells did *g*

sep 09 - 'the environment'
today we took our first real trip to the surrounding cities along the lake. we went to a nearby town called toscolano and took the ferry to the other side. we spent about four hours in a town called 'bardolino' watching incredibly funny tourists, incredibly stupid ducks and eating incredibly tasty pizza ;o)
we took the next ferry to another town (sirmione) and spent additional two hours there. after a more than two-hour trip we got home again. the evening was not that funny because not anyone really wanted to do anything... went to bed at ten...

sep 10 - i can't get no sleep
trip to venice today, that meant getting up at seven *urrgh*. went by bus to a city near venice, desperately tried to find a parking space for the bus and took the rest of the way by train.
venice could have been a really nice city - without the tourists! there were literally thousands of them hovering through the narrow paths... horrible!
however, we ate something there (really _REALLY_ expensive), joined the tourists in taking corny pictures and made our way home again - after having real trouble to find our way! i love italy ;o)
verona tomorrow, sep 11th tomorrow, everyone panicking, noone interested in verona - except for me... hopelessly romantic...

sep 11 - romeo & juliet
got up early (not really early, but early enough for my liking) and took our trip to verona. after lots of quarrels finding a parking space for the bus (again), we visited the huge roman arena. people were preparing some kind of concert, so we left quite quickly.
i was really looking forward to seeing the balcony that was meant to be the source of the 'romel & juliet'-story but there were just that many tourists (remember venice?) that i refused to go and crawl through them. i know that i really missed something, but i desperately hate tourists... sorry ;o)
we spent the evening with talking about old TV-series we used to watch as children and got to bed when the wrong people came to listen...

sep 12 - closer to death
trip to milan today. after lots of driving around (just because our teachers were not prepared at all...) we made it. the dome was incredibly impressive; i've not seen anything that huge - in my entire lifetime! it felt impressive...
the rest was the typical sightseeing where typical sightseeing limited itself to shopping-temples... expensive and ugly!
somehow the trip back got interesting when one of our tires exploded on the motorway... we managed (or, the driver managed) not to get into the traffic and brought us to a station where we waited for about an hour until the tire was changed... really exciting ;o)

sep 13 - thievery
the first day at lake garda with some sleep... well, at least with the possibility of some sleep as some fellow members of our group thought it was incredibly funny to try to break into our bungalow to take pictures of us sleeping.. whoohoo...
generall, we had a lot of time to go shopping again, pack our stuff and be lazy. it got kind of weird when two girls found out that someone had stolen their bags - while they were sleeping! it took them some time to get to the police who told them that they were not responsible for that kind of thing and that they should go and see the carabinieri in the next city... when it was 20:00! well, who would work voluntarily on a friday 13th???

sep 14 - departure
we started at about eight and got into the nearby town salo to get to the carabinieri and tell them that the two girls had been robbed. we got there (after some time), they went in and came out after two minutes again! they had been told that the carabinieri were not responsible for such a kind of thing and that we should get back to toscolano where the usual police would help us... ARRGH!!!
it took us about two hours to get out of salo again (which was really difficult because there was a market, a police-officer that thought that we were looking for a parking space and incredibly stupid signs), to get back to toscolano and to get to the police.
somehow the bus-driver managed to speed up because we arrived at 23:57 after less than fourteen hours! what the **** did that man do last week???
however, on our way back we found two interesting cars. you can see both below as pictures. the story about the second picture is the following: when we had almost reached munich, an ambulance from venice (take a minute to think about these geographical properties) drove past us... as obelix always said: weird romans, weird romans...
